The notion that mentalities may be associated with cultures has been handicapped for over a century by an aversion to generating simplistic stereotypes, exacerbated by the fuzziness of both terms: mentality and culture. At last significant multidisciplinary research on transcultural and translinguistic phenomena corroborates the intuitive dynamics among culture, language and thought first broached by Sapir and Whorf half a century ago.
