Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers udgav i 1979 deres tredje studiealbum "Damn The Torpedoes".
Albummet blev et relativt stort hit og landede bl.a. som nr. 2 på Billboards album-chart. Derudover certificerede albummet sig også til tredobbelt platin af RIIA, med tre milioner solgte kopier i USA alene!
