I år 1963 lavede den amerikanske jazz-saxofonist John Coltrane sammen med resten af sin kvartet nogle indspilninger til et album, som siden hen gik tabt.
I nyere tid har man fundet disse indspilninger, og disse bliver udgivet i albummet 'Both Directions At Once - The Lost Album'.
Deluxe-udgaven indeholder flere versioner af hvert nummer, mens standardudgaven kun har én version af hvert nummer.
